What is a dehumidifier?
A dehumidifier is a product that helps to reduce the amount of moisture in the air.
A dehumidifier can be used in spaces where high humidity can cause problems, for example:
Cellars
Garages
Utility rooms
Storage rooms
Caravans
Motorhomes
Boats
By reducing the moisture in the air, you can help to create a more comfortable indoor climate.
How does a dehumidifier work?
A dehumidifier works by drawing in air from the room and cooling it down.
As the air passes a cooling fin, the water vapour condenses, which means that the moisture is turned into water. The water is then collected in the container or led away through a drain hose.
The drier air is then blown back out into the room.
What does error code F0 mean?
Error code F0 means that refrigerant is leaking or that the cooling system is blocked.
Refrigerant is the liquid or gas used to transport heat in the dehumidifier's cooling system.
Check the following:
Check whether the product has any visible damage.
Check that the appliance is standing on a level, stable surface.
Check that the air intake and air filter are not blocked by dust or other objects.
Restart the product.
If the error code is still shown after these checks, you should contact your place of purchase to make a complaint.
What do the different colours of the lights on the DH2W-20C mean?
On the Dry Connected DH2W-20C, the indicator lights show the dehumidifier's current status.
Red light = The water tank is full
Green light = The humidity is at the right level
Blue light = Dehumidifying in progress
The dehumidifier does not start or does not work
If the dehumidifier is not working as expected, there are a few common causes you can check.
Check the following:
The room temperature is not higher than 35°C or lower than 5°C.
The water container is not full.
The container is fitted correctly.
If any of these conditions are not met, the product may stop or refuse to start.
Why is the dehumidifier noisier than usual?
Increased noise from the dehumidifier does not necessarily mean that something is wrong.
Common causes can be:
The compressor has just started
Temporary variations in the power supply
The product is standing on an uneven surface
The product is standing on a wooden floor that amplifies vibrations
Check that the dehumidifier is standing on a level, stable surface.
Why is the humidity in the room not going down?
If the humidity is not going down, it may be because the dehumidifier is working in difficult conditions.
Possible causes
The room or area is larger than the dehumidifier is intended for.
Doors or windows are open.
There is equipment in the room that produces moisture or steam.
The air filter is dirty.
The room temperature is low.
For the best result, doors and windows should be kept closed during operation.
The dehumidifier has little or no dehumidifying effect
If the dehumidifier collects very little water, the problem may be caused by the surroundings or the settings.
Check the following:
Check that the desired humidity level is set correctly.
Check that the temperature in the room is above 5°C.
Check that the air filter is clean.
Check that the airflow is not blocked by furniture or curtains.
Automatic defrosting
If the room temperature is between 5°C and 15°C, the dehumidifier may automatically start a defrosting programme.
When this happens:
The compressor stops temporarily.
The fan carries on working.
Normal operation resumes automatically once the defrosting is finished.
Why does the air smell strange when I use the product for the first time?
A slight unusual smell during the first use is normal.
When the heat exchanger, that is to say the part that cools the air and collects the moisture, is heated up for the first time, a faint smell can occur. The smell normally disappears after a period of use.
Why is there a hissing or swishing sound?
A hissing or swishing sound is normal for a dehumidifier.
The sound comes from the refrigerant circulating inside the cooling system and is part of normal operation.
Why is there still water in the container when I use a drain hose?
A small amount of water can still remain in the container even when a drain hose is used.
Check the following:
Check that the drain connector is firmly attached.
Check that the drain hose is not bent or blocked.
Detach the hose and fit it again.
Check that the hose is installed correctly.
Why is the full container indicator lit?
The full container indicator shows that the dehumidifier cannot carry on collecting water.
Check the following:
The container is full and needs to be emptied.
The container is not correctly in place.
The container has been removed from the appliance.
How to fix the problem
Take out the container.
Empty out the water.
Put the container back properly.
Start the product again.
The dehumidifier works normally but does not start dehumidifying
If the appliance seems to be working normally but is not dehumidifying, the humidity level may be set too high.
Try the following:
Lower the humidity setting.
Switch on continuous dehumidifying if your model has this feature.
When the target humidity is lower than the current humidity in the room, dehumidifying starts automatically.
Why is no water being collected in the container?
If the humidity in the room is already at a normal level, the dehumidifier will collect very little water or none at all.
A humidity of around 35-40 % is considered low enough for the dehumidifier not to need to collect water.
How to check that the dehumidifier is working
Place the dehumidifier in a bathroom.
Start the product while you are having a shower.
Check whether water is collected in the container.
If no water is collected despite high humidity, the product may be faulty.
