Humidifier

Is it normal for water to remain in the tank?
It is completely normal for water to remain in the drip tray after the tank is empty. This applies to all ultrasonic humidifiers.

Why use a humidifier?
When it is cold outside, the air’s ability to carry water vapor decreases. When this air comes in through ventilation and is heated to room temperature, it therefore contains very little moisture.

Why is the desired humidity not reached?
Since the hygrometer in a humidifier is often located in or near the machine itself, we recommend also using an external hygrometer. Place it 3–5 meters from the humidifier to check that the vapor is actually spreading in the room. Because walls, furniture, plants, etc., need to “absorb” moisture, it can take 5–10 days before an external hygrometer shows any change. Ventilation systems can also strongly affect humidity levels.

What is relative humidity?
The most common way to indicate humidity is relative humidity in percent. The percentage shows how much water vapor the air contains relative to the temperature. Because the air’s ability to hold water vapor varies with temperature, the relative humidity can be high even if the actual amount of water in the air is low.

What is absolute humidity?
Absolute humidity indicates the amount of water vapor per cubic meter of air.

Why is humidity important?
Humidity affects the body, furniture, and the building itself. It also affects how warm or cold we feel the air.

What is the right humidity?
Indoors, relative humidity should be around 40–45% during winter. It is good to use a humidifier during cold periods. Humans and plants in the home thrive best at slightly higher humidity than 40%, but too high humidity can have negative consequences, such as mold spores. However, a humidifier in a ventilated room will not be able to raise humidity to harmful levels.

What types of humidifiers exist?
There are mainly three technologies: ultrasonic, vaporizer, and evaporator. All have their advantages and disadvantages.

What is an ultrasonic humidifier?
An ultrasonic humidifier uses a small vibrating plate to create a cold, visible water mist.

What is a vaporizer?
A vaporizer adds moisture by boiling water. The steam is completely bacteria-free and also heats the room. However, caution is advised if you have small children or pets.

What is an evaporator?
An evaporator uses filters that absorb water. Fans then blow air through the filter, which picks up the moisture. This is a self-regulating way to add humidity, and the air cannot become too humid.
