What is the difference between the different Zense models?
The difference between the different Zense models lies mainly in design, choice of materials, and the type of filter holder used. All models in the Zense series brew coffee at the optimal temperature, have a removable water tank, and use Wilfa's unique pump technology that ensures fresh water with every brew.
Features common to all Zense models:
Removable water tank.
Wilfa's unique water pump technology.
Optimal brewing temperature of 92–96 °C.
ECBC certification (European Coffee Brewing Centre).
Automatic shut-off after 40 minutes.
Dosing markers for the correct coffee-to-water ratio.
What do the letters in the model name mean?
The letters in the model name describe, among other things, the choice of materials and the type of filter holder the coffee maker has.
M = Manual filter holder
A model ending in M125 has manual flow control.
Example:
CM10B-M125
CM10AB-M125
CM10APA-M125
A = Automatic filter holder
A model ending in A125 has automatic flow control and automatic drip-stop.
Example:
CM10B-A125
CM10W-A125
CM10ABA-A125
What is the difference between a manual and an automatic filter holder?
The difference between a manual and an automatic filter holder affects how the water flow through the coffee is controlled during brewing.
Manual filter holder (M models)
On models with a manual filter holder, you can adjust the flow yourself based on how much coffee you're brewing.
Advantages:
Ability to brew as little as 0.25 liters.
Very good results even with small brewing amounts.
Customized contact time between coffee and water.
When using a manual filter holder, the setting should match the amount of water in the tank.
Example:
0.25 liters of water → select 0.25 on the filter holder.
0.5 liters of water → select 0.5 on the filter holder.
1.25 liters of water → select 1.25 on the filter holder.
This helps optimize extraction and flavor.
Automatic filter holder (A models)
On models with an automatic filter holder, flow control happens automatically.
Advantages:
No adjustment needed.
Automatic drip-stop.
Simple to use.
For the best flavor, we recommend brewing at least approximately 0.5 liters at a time on models with an automatic filter holder.
What is the difference between Zense and Zense Alux?
The difference between Zense and Zense Alux lies mainly in choice of materials and design.
Zense
The Zense models have a plastic housing.
Example:
CM10B-M125
CM10B-A125
CM10W-A125
Zense Alux
The Zense Alux models have an aluminum chassis.
Example:
CM10AB-M125
CM10ABA-A125
CM10APA-M125
Functionally, the models are very similar, but Zense Alux offers a more premium choice of materials and design execution.
For those who often brew small amounts
If you often brew one or two cups of coffee, we recommend a model with a manual filter holder.
Example:
CM10B-M125
CM10AB-M125
CM10APA-M125
For those who want the simplest possible use
If you want the coffee maker to handle flow control automatically, we recommend a model with an automatic filter holder.
Example:
CM10B-A125
CM10W-A125
CM10ABA-A125
What is Wilfa's unique pump technology?
Wilfa's unique pump technology ensures that fresh water is used for every brew.
The technology works by:
Emptying the system of water after brewing is complete.
Transporting the water through the coffee maker at the optimal temperature.
Delivering the correct brewing temperature from the first to the last drop.
This contributes to better flavor and more consistent brewing results.
Are all Zense coffee makers ECBC certified?
Yes, all Zense models are certified by the ECBC (European Coffee Brewing Centre). The certification means that the coffee makers meet high standards for, among other things, temperature, brewing time and extraction, to deliver the best possible coffee experience.
How much coffee should I use?
For the best results, Wilfa recommends approximately 60 grams of coffee per liter of water.
Example:
1.25 liters of water → 75 grams of coffee
1.0 liters of water → 60 grams of coffee
0.75 liters of water → 45 grams of coffee
0.50 liters of water → 30 grams of coffee
