Kettle – General Questions

Is the plastic in the kettle BPA-free?

  • Yes, all Wilfa products with plastic components that come into contact with food or water are always BPA-free.

How does the automatic shut-off work? Sometimes when I place the kettle back on the base while it’s empty, it seems like it doesn’t turn off. Why?

  • The kettle automatically shuts off when it senses that the water has boiled.

  • It’s best not to remove the kettle from the base before it has fully boiled.

  • If you place it back while empty, it cannot detect boiled water and will continue trying to sense water, so the automatic shut-off does not trigger.

  • Therefore, it’s recommended not to remove the kettle before it has fully boiled.

I have a Format kettle but find it difficult to reach 40°C even when I select that temperature. Why?

  • For most accurate results, use cold tap water and fill at least 1 liter.

  • Using smaller amounts may cause a deviation of more than ±3°C.

  • When tested with 1 liter, the temperature should only vary ±3°C from the chosen setting.

  • If it exceeds this, contact your retailer for a replacement kettle.

It takes a long time to reach 90°C on my Format kettle. Why does it take longer to heat to lower temperatures than 100°C?

  • The kettle heats quickly to within 10–20°C of the target temperature.

  • The last degrees heat more slowly to prevent overshooting the set temperature.

  • Since the temperature scale increments by 10°C, the kettle does not use full power for the last degrees, which is why it takes slightly longer than reaching 100°C.
